Why can't I install all OSes on an XS or D1 VPS?

Operating systems keep increasing the required specifications to run. Because an XS VPS and D1 SandboxVPS have 1 GB RAM memory and some OSs require more RAM, these OSs can unfortunately not be installed on an XS.

Currently, this applies to the following OSs:

    • AlmaLinux (3GB)
    • Arch Linux (3GB)
    • CentOS Stream (4GB)
    • Fedora (2GB)
    • Fedora CoreOS (3GB)
    • OpenSUSE (2GB)
    • Rocky Linux (3GB)

Between the brackets we indicate the minimum amount of memory required. For example, you could install Fedora on an XS-VPS with an additional 1GB RAM addon.

AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux require more than 2GB for a manual installation (this doesn't apply to installations using a one time pass, ssh-keys, or cloud-config file). You can use a RAM add-on for this purpose instead of upgrading your VPS as a whole.
