    .ch

.ch is the domain extension of Switzerland and is managed by the registry Switch.

On this page you will find information about .ch domains that you register with TransIP.

    Registration

    • A .ch domain may contain a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 63 characters.
    • Emojis are not available for .ch domains. However, the use of special characters/punycode is possible. A comprehensive overview of which extensions allow which special characters can be found on the website of IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.
    • .ch domain registrations are annual and are automatically renewed at the end of the registration period of a year.

    Transfers

    • Transferring a .ch domain is always done with a transfer code. You can always request this at your current registrar. More information about transferring your domain name can be found here.
    • After using the transfer code, the transfer is performed almost immediately.
    • After transferring a .ch domain, it can not be transferred again for 60 days.

    WHOIS

    • Changing the owner details of a .ch domain can not be done automatically, so it has to be done manually by us. To do so, you can contact us via the 'Contact us' button below. The price for this is €50,- excl. VAT (€60,50 incl. VAT).
    • The registry for .ch domains may perform checks on the owner details. In this case, they will send an email requesting you to identify yourself within 30 days. Because of this, it is important that the email address of the owner/registrant is correct and reachable.
      • We have no control over this and can not provide refunds for domains that are revoked by the registry.

    Other

    • When you cancel a .ch domain name, the domain enters a Quarantine period (also known as 'Redemption period') for 40 days. During these 40 days, the domain can still be restored. After the 40-day period, the domain becomes available for registration again.
      • The registry charges fees for reactivating domains, which we must pass on to you.
    • You can use a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 13 nameservers for a .ch domain.
      • When registering, you can only use 0, 2, 3, or 4 nameservers.
