    What is a cPanel account?

A cPanel account, also known as cPanel user, is an account that you use to log in to cPanel (not WHM). From cPanel, you then manage domains and related services such as websites and email. It is possible to host multiple domains within one cPanel account (this is called cPanel add-on domains).

WHM accounts (administrators and resellers) are not included in the total number of cPanel accounts. Would you like to check the amount of cPanel accounts that are active on your VPS? In this article we explain how you can do so.

cPanel accounts and the cPanel licensing model

If you use a VPS with cPanel/WHM, it is important to know what a cPanel account is. On the 1st of September 2019 cPanel made a change to their license model. In this new model license costs are calculated based on the number of cPanel accounts on a cPanel/WHM server. This change will only be implemented on the 1st of January 2020 for  cPanel installations at TransIP.
