On this page, you will find all the information about .online domains that you register with TransIP. Please note that different registrars may have different procedures. If your domain is not registered with TransIP, please consult your own domain registrar.
Registration
- A .online domain can contain a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 63 characters.
- Emojis are not available for .online domains. However, the use of special characters/punycode is possible. A comprehensive overview of which extensions allow which special characters can be found on the website of IANA, the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority.
- .online domain registrations are annual and are automatically renewed at the end of the registration period of a year. However, we still inform you, in accordance with the rules of the overarching register ICANN, about the renewal date via email.
- Please note that the expiration date in the WHOIS data and the renewal date of your domain in your control panel may differ. This occurs if the domain has been transferred in the past. In your control panel, you can always find the leading renewal dates of your domains
Transfers
- You transfer a .online domain with a transfer code. You can find this in your control panel.
- When transferring to another registrar, the owner of the domain name will receive an email allowing you to accept or reject the transfer.
- If the domain owner accepts the transfer, it will take place immediately.
- If the domain owner rejects the transfer, the transfer will not take place.
- If the domain owner neither accepts nor rejects the transfer, the transfer will still take place after 5 days.
WHOIS
- Valid WHOIS data is necessary for registrant email verification. You can change this data following the steps in this Knowledge Base article.
- If the email verification is not successfully completed, the domain will not be accessible until verification is done.
- Email verification is per email address and not per domain. This means that if you have multiple domains with the same email address, you only need to perform the verification once.
- WHOIS data is automatically hidden for a .online domain. You can make your WHOIS data public upon request.
- .online domain registrations are not tied to a country or region and are therefore available for registration worldwide.
Other
- When you cancel a .online domain name, the domain enters a Quarantine period (also known as 'Redemption period') for 30 days. During these 30 days, the domain can still be restored. After the 30-day period, there are 5 days during which the domain cannot be restored; after these 5 days, the domain becomes available for registration again.
- The registry charges fees for reactivating domains, which is why reactivating is €145,- excl. VAT (€175,45 incl. VAT)
- Reactivation is only possible for .online domains previously registered with TransIP
- After registration, transfer, or changing the owner details (this applies to changing the company name, first and last name, and the email address of the registrant), there is a 60-day transfer lock in effect. During the transfer lock period, you cannot transfer the domain to another registrar.
- You can use a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 13 nameservers for a .online domain name.
