At TransIP, you can use a ManagedVPS with DirectAdmin or Plesk (web control panels for hosting websites/email). Managed means that we perform the administration of the server and take care of:
- Software updates: We update the software on your server and ensure the installation of security updates.
- 24/7 incident monitoring: In case of a malfunction, we investigate the problem and provide a solution so that your server is up and running properly as soon as possible.
- Hardware: We monitor the hardware resources; for example, if your disk is getting full, we (in consultation with you) provide a suitable solution.
- Configuration changes: On request, we adjust settings for the improvement of the service.
With a ManagedVPS, you do not have root access to the server, but you do have access to the web control panel of DirectAdmin or Plesk. In addition, there are several things that are not included in the scope of a ManagedVPS:
- The installation of licensed software such as Installatron.
- Migrations of applications to the ManagedVPS.
- Telephone support.
Dedicated vs shared vCPU
For your ManagedVPS you can choose for either shared vCPUs or Dedicated vCPUs. The difference between these is that with shared vCPU cores your VPS uses the same physical CPU cores of a hypervisor as other VPSs hosted on the same hypervisor. With dedicated vCPU cores, the cores are reserved for you, regardless of whether you fully utilize them or not. More information about the differences can be found in this article.
