What is an Internal Server Error?

An Internal Server Error is an HTTP status code (usually 500, but 501 is also possible), which indicates that there is an error in the output of a script. Often a CGI script, but an Internal Server Error can also indicate an error in the .htaccess file.

    500 Internal Server Error
Servers and browsers communicate with each other by means of an HTTP status code. Search for a particular web page in your browser, the server on which the website is placed will then redirect a code combined with a message. The 500 Internal Server Error is a pretty generic error message that indicates that something is wrong; It remains unclear where the cause is. For example, often the problem with CGI scripts is that the administrator of a site has not adequately set up the rights of a script.
